DIRTY DECKS CAN BE A HAZARD....

Moldy Decks can pose significant dangers to both the structural integrity of the deck itself and the health of those using the deck. Here's why moldy decks can be dangerous:

  1. Slippery Surface: Mold growth on a deck can create a slippery surface, especially when wet. This increases the risk of slips, trips, and falls, which can result in injuries such as sprains, fractures, and even more serious injuries like head trauma.

  2. Deterioration of Deck Materials: Mold can deteriorate and weaken the deck's materials over time. It can break down wood fibers, causing the wood to become soft, rotten, and structurally compromised. This can lead to a weakened deck that is unsafe to use, potentially resulting in collapses or accidents.

OUR DECK WASHING PROCESS->

  1. Cleaning Solution: Gladiator typically uses a deck-specific cleaning solution that is safe for the wood and effective at removing mold, mildew, algae, and other grime. The solution is usually diluted according to the manufacturer's recommendations.

  2. Application: The cleaning solution is applied to the deck using a low-pressure sprayer. This ensures even coverage and minimizes the risk of damaging the wood fibers.

  3. Dwell Time: The cleaning solution is allowed to dwell on the deck surface for a specified period. This gives it time to break down contaminants and lift them from the wood.

  4. Gentle Agitation: In cases where there are stubborn stains or heavy growth, the technician might use a soft-bristle brush or a specialized scrubbing tool to gently agitate the surface. This helps to loosen and remove embedded dirt and contaminants.

  5. Rinsing: After the dwell time, the deck is thoroughly rinsed using a low-pressure setting on a pressure washer or a gentle spray from a garden hose. The goal is to wash away the cleaning solution along with the lifted contaminants.
